Acts 11 (my reactions\/thoughts in BOLD<\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WE ARE ALWAYS LEARNING. WE THINK WE KNOW WHAT GOD WOULD DO OR WHAT HE WANTS BUT THEN SOMETHING SURPRISES US. MAY OUR RESPONSE BE PRAISE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are always learning. We think we know what God would do or what He wants but then something surprises us. May our response be praise.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The apostles and the believers (in other words, Christians)<\/strong> throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles (sinners, unclean, outcasts)<\/strong> also had received the word of God. SHOCKING!<\/strong> 2 <\/sup>So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers (yep- extra jewels in their crowns)<\/strong>\u00a0 criticized him 3 <\/sup>and said, \u201cYou went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them.\u201dThe AUDACITY!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4 <\/sup>Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story: 5 <\/sup>\u201cI was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 <\/sup>I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds. 7 <\/sup>Then I heard a voice telling me, \u2018Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8 <\/sup>\u201cI replied, \u2018Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9 <\/sup>\u201cThe voice spoke from heaven a second time, \u2018Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.\u2019 10 <\/sup>This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11 <\/sup>\u201cRight then three men who had been sent to me from Caesarea stopped at the house where I was staying. 12 <\/sup>The Spirit told me to have no hesitation about going with them. These six brothers also went with me, and we entered the man\u2019s house. 13 <\/sup>He told us how he had seen an angel appear in his house and say, \u2018Send to Joppa for Simon who is called Peter. 14 <\/sup>He will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 <\/sup>\u201cAs I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. 16 <\/sup>Then I remembered what the Lord had said: \u2018John baptized with[<\/sup>a<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup> water, but you will be baptized with[<\/sup>b<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup> the Holy Spirit.\u2019(when something happens right before your eyes that you can\u2019t compute, the Holy Spirit brings to mind what you already know to be true) <\/strong>17 <\/sup>So if God gave them (who\u2019s them? Sinners? Democrats? Republicans? Vaccinated? Anti vaxxers? Chreasters?!?!)\u00a0<\/strong> the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God\u2019s way?\u201d<\/em> ( I best humble myself and<\/strong> my attitude)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 <\/sup>When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, \u201cSo then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.\u201d<\/em> (even when I don\u2019t understand or am uncomfortable with what God is clearly choosing to do, I will have NO objections but ONLY praise<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
