{"id":399,"date":"2021-09-23T22:20:32","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T22:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/asmymindunwinds.com\/?p=399"},"modified":"2021-09-23T22:20:36","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T22:20:36","slug":"hows-that-going-for-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asmymindunwinds.com\/?p=399","title":{"rendered":"How&#8217;s That Going for You?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>*<em>written in 2017 but never published til now.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In LifeGroup through my church last week, we were asked to read John 14:15 and then to imagine Dr. Phil asking as he would, \u201chow\u2019s that goin\u2019 for you?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>John 14:15 reads:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you love me, keep my commands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cue Dr. Phil\u2019s \u201chow\u2019s that goin for you?\u201d \u2026 and my group\u2019s immediate reaction was OUCH.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously, thinking of the verse <em>that way <\/em>made us feel like we\u2019re missing the mark because we\u2019re not constantly carrying out Jesus\u2019 commands and therefore we <strong>must not love Him<\/strong>. It hurt. It cut us right through to the core. I looked around at the fallen faces of the ladies in my group and I knew there was more to this. I smiled, looked at the girls and reminded them,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The bible is a double edged sword, a book of checks and balances, of tension and release (Heb 4:12). Reading a verse like this is to help us judge the thoughts and attitudes of our heart. Therefore,&nbsp;<\/li><li>Remember even Paul said in Romans 7:15-24 that although He wants to do what Jesus commands, he often fails. Is it because he doesn\u2019t love Him? NO. It\u2019s because he is not yet perfect and he can\u2019t be perfect until he is made like Jesus. Until then, he has to pick up his cross daily (Luke 9:23). Therefore,&nbsp;<\/li><li>The verse John 14:15, is meant to create healthy tension.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We can\u2019t let something like John 14:15 <em>condemn <\/em>us, but we <strong>must <\/strong>let it <em>convict <\/em>us. Are we keeping His commands? Not always, but it doesn\u2019t mean we don\u2019t love Him. It means we need to be aware of our need to keep persevering (Heb. 112:1-2) and have faith that He is the author and finisher of <em>our<\/em> faith\u2026.and that <em>that <\/em>kind of faith is true love, a love that <em>drives us, compels us <\/em>to keep His commands.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-rounded\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"341\" src=\"https:\/\/asmymindunwinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/lightstock_164168_comp.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/asmymindunwinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/lightstock_164168_comp.jpg 512w, https:\/\/asmymindunwinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/lightstock_164168_comp-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*written in 2017 but never published til now.
